Hypertensive retinopathy by Dr Adrian Koay
A 46 year-old man was admitted to the medical ward for severe hypertension with a blood pressure of 230/140 mmHg. He also complained of blurring of vision in his left eye for 3 days. His visual acuity was 6/6 in the right eye and 6/12 in the left eye. He was referred to us because the physician noted bilateral optic disc oedema. Dilated fundoscopy revealed bilateral type IV hypertensive retinopathy.
