Toxoplasmosis scar by Dr Adrian Koay
A 52 year-old woman who was recently diagnosed to have diabetes mellitus was referred to our clinic for ophthalmology review. Her best corrected visual acuity was 6/6 bilaterally and no diabetic changes were noted. However, there was an asymptomatic old retinochoroidal scar nasal to the left optic disc. There was no signs of posterior uveitis associated with the lesion. The most likely cause for the scar is ocular toxoplasmosis. This might be congenital or acquired. She has been rearing cats since she was a child.
