Giant tear with retinal detachment by Dr Adrian Koay and Professor Chua Chung Nen
A 52-year old man complained of sudden onset loss of vision which began at the lower visual field. The visual acuity was counting finger and slit-lamp examination revealed tobacco dusts and a large bullous retinal detachment. There was a giant retinal tear (involving at least three clock hours of the retina or 900 circumference of the retina). He was admitted for vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade.
