Proliferative
diabetic retinopathy

This 30 year-old pregnant
woman had poor diabetic control. She developed bilateral proliferative
diabetic retinopathy in the second trimester and had laser photocoagulation.
Nonetheless, the prolifeative diabetic retinopathy progressed due to poor
diabetic control and necessitated further laser therapy. She eventually
agreed to see the endocrinologist to tighten her diabetes. However, the left
eye might require vitrectomy to clear the vitreous haemorrhage after
delivery.
