Bilateral
retinoblastoma

Chung Nen
This 12 month-old girls
was referred because of visual inattention and leukocria. There was no
family history of retinoblastoma. Fundoscopy revealed extensive white masses
and CT scan showed bilateral intraocular calcification suggestive of
retinoblastoma. Right enucleation was performed and cryotherapy was applied
to the left eye in an attempt to save the remaining eye. Unfortunately, the
left eye failed to respond to cryotherapy and the eye had to be removed to
save the patient's life. Histology confirmed retinoblastoma with optic nerve
involvement. The patient underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
