Morning glory disc

Photo by Professor Chua Chung Nen

This 4½ year-old cooperative boy was noted by his teacher to have poor vision in the right eye. His development was normal. Examination revealed right vision of HM and left vision of 6/5. Refraction was -3.75/-0.50 X 80 in the right eye and +0.25 in the left eye. Fundscopy revealed right abnormal disc with peripapillary pigmentary changes;  gliosis in the optic disc and abnormal branching of the retinal vessels.

Right eye appears smaller than the left eye because the skin crease is lower. The height of the

palpebral fissure and corneal diameters are similar in both eyes.

Right abnormal disc typical of morning glory disc.
