Divergence excess exotropia

Photo by Professor Chua Chung Nen

This 13 year-old myopic girl (-2.00DS) developed a left exotropia 6 months ago. The exotropia was absent when she was wearing glasses. The vision in both eyes was normal at 6/6. The exotropia was also absent when she looked at near object. She was advised to wear her glasses constantly.

Right exotropia when fixating at a 6 metres objection (A and B). Eyes straight with myopic

correction (C). Exotropia disappeared when the eyes looked at a near object. Right exotropia

worsened when the eyes looked at an object further than 6 metres.
