haemorrhage
This 6 year-old was
referred from the casualty because his parents noted that he had difficulty
in moving his right eye following a fall in which he hit his right eye
against the edge of a chair. The visual acuity was normal in both eyes and
no relative pupillary defect was noted. There was a right hypertropia in the
primary position with restriction of up and downgaze. CT scan revealed a
large cystic lesion situated inferiorly in the retrobulbar space. The cystic
lesion contained blood fluid level. No action was taken because the vision
was normal and technical difficult of removing a lesion in the retrobulbar
lesion without damaging major structures. The lesion resolved spontaneously
and the patient's eye regained normal ocular movement.
Right proptosis and hypertropia.
