Congenital ptosis
Photo by Professor Chua Chung Nen
This 3-year old boy was
referred because of left congenital ptosis. The left visual axis was
occluded and refraction shows significant astigmatism with decreased vision.
Left frontalis suspension was performed with 2/0 prolene and the patient was
able to keep the eye open despite being amblyopic. Post-operatively, he was
given glasse. Patching was also carried out on the right eye to improve the
left vision.
