Extrusion of Ahmed

This 50 year-old man suffered from poorly controlled glaucoma secondary to
aniridia. Previous
trabeculectomies in the left eye were unsuccessful due to scarring of the
blebs. An Ahmed valve was inserted which controlled the intraocular
pressure. 4 months after the valve insertion the patient complained of
foreign body sensation. Examination revealed anterior migration of the Ahmed
valve. The intraocular pressure remained well-controlled. The valve was
repositioned.
