Silicone droplet

Photo by Dr. Ngo and Professor Chua

This 55 year-old woman with poorly controlled diabetic mellitus underwent right vitrectomy with silicone oil tamponade for tractional retinal detachment one week ago. The anterior chamber showed the presence of a silicone droplet which had escaped from the vitreous cavity. The intraocular pressure was normal.

A single droplet of silicone oil in the anterior chamber.

Close-up view of the droplet showed it to be held between the lens and the cornea.
