Conjunctival papilloma

Photo by Dr. Tan Aik Kah & Professor Chua Chung Nen

A 70 year-old woman presented with a one-year history of right red eye and a fleshy lesion arising from the temporal bulbar conjunctiva. The appearance was typical of a benign conjunctival papilloma. However, to avoid misdiagnosis, the excised lesion was sent for histology as conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma may masquerade as papilloma.
