Painful blind eye

This 50 year-old woman was
blind in the left eye (no light perception) after she sustained ocular
injury in her teenage year. The eye had been treated with mydriatic and
topical steroids for the past 2 years because of rubeotic glaucoma. In the
past few days, she complained of severe pain. Slit-lamp examination showed
epithelial defect with hypopyon. She was given intensive antibiotic and
lubricants. The pain settled as the epithelial defect reduced in size and
the hypopyon disappeared.
