This patient underwent a
successful phacoemulsification and implant two weeks ago. At the follow-up,
he complained that the vision was not as clear as immediately after the
operation. Slit-lamp examination showed cortical remnants behind the
intraocular lens. The cortex usually dissolved with time but could increase
post-operative inflammation.
In patient whose vision is
seriously affected, removal of the cortex via irrigation and aspiration is
the best option.
