Pleomorphic adenoma of the orbital lacrimal gland

A 45 year-old woman complained of progressive swelling of the right orbit. A CT scan revealed a mass in the lacrimal fossa causing non-axial proptosis. A lateral orbitotomy was performed to remove the mass en bloc. Histology revealed this to be a pleomorphic adenoma of the lacrimal gland.

Left Right non-axial proptosis with the globe displaced down and in.

Side-view of the orbit showing right non-axial proptosis.

CT scan shows a large lacrimal mass.

Coronal CT scan showing a superolateral orbital mass.

The mass was excised en bloc through a lateral orbitotomy.

The tumour was bisected.
