Dacryocystitis
A 60 year-old who was admitted for
dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) developed a tender swelling over the right
medial canthus 4 days earlier. The appearance was consistent with an
infected lacrimal mucocele. She was given oral augmentin (675mg bd). The
abscess bursted spontaneously before the planned operation. However, to
prevent future recurrences DCR was still performed.
