Firecracker injury

A 16 year-old male student was playing with
firecrackers at home when one of them exploded in front of his face causing
severe damage to the midface with loss of the nose and upper lip. The left
globe was severely ruptured and required evisceration. Fortunately, the
right globe was intact and the vision measured 6/18. The midface injury was
managed by the ENT and the plastic team.

firecracker. The left globe was ruptured by the force.
Reconstructed CT scans showing
extensive midface and left cheek and orbital bone fracture.
Six days post-debridement. The
patient is tube fed and awaits further reconstruction.
