This 35 year-old man was involved in a road
traffic accident 12 years ago. At the time, the right eye was enucleated
without implant and the eyelid reconstructed. Over the past three years, he
had increased difficult with inserting his prosthesis. Examination showed
shallow lower fornix and a deep socket. Reconstruction involved reformation
of the lower fornix and eyelid (fornix deepening procedure and lateral
tarsal strip) and an acrylic ball implant. Three weeks after the
reconstruction, a new prosthesis was inserted and the patient was satisfied.
Poor cosmetic appearance with the
existing prosthesis.
Contraction of the lower eyelid.
Shallow lower fornix.
