Asian blepharoplasty, also commonly known as
double eyelid surgery amongst the Chinese, is the most popular cosmetic
surgery in Malaysia and Singapore. In Malaysia, many patients consult
medically unqualified beauticians to achieve the extra skin creases. These
practitioners usually perform the suture technique to achieve the desired
effect. Unfortunately, these techniques are not permanent and worse still
some patients develop infection or asymmetrical creases.
This patient had suture techniques 4 years ago
but was unhappy with the result. The skin creases being too low and hidden
by the upper eyelid skin. Revision was performed using the incisonal
techniques. The septum was open and the pre-aponeurotic fat was cauterised
to accentuate the creases. The sutures were removed at 5 days.
