Subperiosteal abscess
with sinusitis

A 16 year-old presented
with one-week history of progressive left orbital and forehead swelling with
pyrexia. Examination revealed left proptosis with poor left upgaze and
adduction. An urgent CT scan revealed a left subperiosteal abscess involving
the medial orbital wall and bilateral frontal, ethmoidal and maxillary
sinusitis. He was admitted for intravenous augementin and metronidazole and
an endoscopic drainage of the abscess was arranged with the ENT Department.
Left proptosis with forehead
swelling.
The left eye shows poor upgaze and
adduction.
Bilateral ethmoidal sinusitis with
subperiosteal abscess of the left medial wall.
