This 20 year-old woman
complained of recurrent irritation of the right eye since childhood.
Her usual ophthalmologist attributed this to in-growing eyelashes and had
repeatedly carried out epilation when the eye became irritable. Examination
revealed the cause to be epiblepharon.
There are several surgical techniques for
epiblepharon. In her case, we chose the easiest technique ie. everting
sutures which could be performed in the shortest possible time in the
out-patient. The patient was symptom-free at the 4-month out-patient review.

Bilateral epiblepharon but only the
right eyelashes were rubbing against the cornea.

The appearance of the eyelid
immediately after 3 everting sutures.
